In honor of our theme this year.....I just had to! Meet Tucker!
The Dynamic Duo Welcomes You!
Welcome Class of 2026!
READ ALL ABOUT IT! These two students chose to write a news article for our final assessment on "Taking Care of the Earth." Great work!!
To start off the 4th quarter, our class studied all about Natural Resources, as well as how to take care of our environment. We checked out the ipads and had a lot of fun with QR codes! Some tasks included: responding in their journals to a photograph of pollution, making a creation out of recycled junk, watching an educational video about pollution and answering higher-order questions, listening to the song "Go Green" and recording what we learned, and listening to the story "The Junkyard Dog" and responding to the text. Take a look at us in action, as well as some of our work samples!
Our class Geo-Pets made out of 3-D shapes!
Take a look at some photos from our In-House Field Trip in January with Scientist Julie! We learned all about Rocks and Minerals. We will learn more about ROCKS 4th Quarter! We enjoyed digging through soil, searching for rocks and minerals with our head lamps, and classifying our rocks!
Here are the students working on the research project from 2nd Quarter. They were able to come up with some great questions about their topic! Check out the PowerPoints the students created of their research under the Technology in the Classroom tab if you haven't already!
Fiction vs. Non-Fiction
Here are some students working together on creating a Fiction and Non-Fiction Venn diagram!
4th Grade Reading Buddies
Our class loves meeting with our 4th grade reading buddies in Mrs. Leab's class! Our classes meet quarterly to share books and celebrate writing with each other. You may recognize some siblings!
2nd Quarter Science: Balance and Motion
Check out the slideshow with pictures of the students balancing arches and triangles, balancing a pencil on it's tip, dropping twirly birds, and rolling their "car" into the "garage."
1st Quarter Science: Comparing and Measuring Check out the slide show of some photos from our unit!
Finally it's here! Our "Teach Me How to PROWL" video. Our class was able to perform this song for the whole school!
PROWLing Mrs. Lee's Class Style!
We have been learning about what it looks like to PROWL all around the school at Vance Elementary for two weeks now! As a PBIS school, Vance Elementary models and teaches the rules and expectations of PROWL (Practice Empathy, Respect Everyone and Everything, Only Make Safe Choices, Work Responsibly, Love Learning). When students display model behavior and PROWL throughout the school, they can earn PROWL tickets. The students work to earn PROWL tickets as a class, as well as earn tickets individually. The students can turn in their tickets to receive an award of their choice. Every time our class earns 10 PROWL tickets, the students receive an award as a class.
The students decorated some PROWL art for our walls as they got to know each other on our first day of First Grade! We are also in the process of perfecting our classroom PROWL rap. We can't wait to perform it!
P- Practice Empathy!
R- Respect Everyone and Everything!
O- Only Make Safe Choices
W- Work Responsibly!
