Jambo! This past summer, I had the opportunity to travel to Kenya in order to help the Kenyan people through giving of donations, providing two new houses for refugee families, and presenting information about HIV AIDs to five different high schools. A highlight of my trip was visiting an orphanage and providing a book for all 180 children to have one of their very own. The look on their faces was priceless! This experience has taught me so much about how I can easily take things for granted, whether it's a book, a meal 3x a day, or even a glass of ice cold water. I hope to inspire each of my students this year to develop a desire to help others, expand their awareness of the needs in third world countries, and connect with diverse first grade classrooms around the world. I hope to inspire the Vance community as well just by taking a look at a few photos from my trip. How can you make a difference?
